Dentists With Heart

Dentists with a Heart is an event that focuses on the dental needs of children who otherwise would not have access to dental care. In 2004, offices throughout Santa Clara County will open their doors and hearts to needy children on Thursday, February 12th.

Santa Clara County Dental Society asks their members to donate their time as The Health Trust identifies, triages, schedules and directs the neediest children. Dentists can sign-up for a full day of patients (20 children) or a half-day (10 children). Practitioners will use their clinical judgment to determine the course of treatment for the day. The children will then be referred back to the Children’s Dental Initiative, at The Health Trust, to initiate comprehensive care. Transportation will be offered to those families that require it.

Offices that elect not to treat children, can participate by donating the proceeds from the day, or half-day, to fund programs that will sustain care throughout the year. It is a great way to give back to the community and an event that your staff and patients will talk about for a long time.

Sponsorship and media coverage are planned to bring attention to Dentists with a Heart. The goal for this third year is to treat 500 children and raise $10,000. Participating offices will be recognized with a commemorative plaque at the Dental Society meeting that same evening.
