Special Recognition

At the American Cancer Society Volunteer Appreciation Event held May 9, 2003, James Higgins will accept the Collaboration Award for the "100 Black Men of the Silicon Valley". The American Cancer Society and the "100 Black Men of the Silicon Valley jointly present a program titled "Lets Talk About It". "Lets Talk About It" provides information about prostate health, prostate cancer testing, and treatment options. It also encourages men to talk with their physicians so they can make informed, "comfortable" decisions about their health care.

The collaboration between the Cancer Society and the "100 Black Men of Silicon Valley" led by Dr. James Higgins, has successfully offered "Lets Talk About It" and follow up presentations as a community service to Bay Area employees at IBM, United Defense, sun Microsystems, VTA, Mercury News, National Semiconductor, and to other organizations.
